New Business
Tri-Health 2006 Plans –
·       New programs – Healthy Back, Biggest Loser Challenge, Four-Week classes on health or fitness, Kid’s RecFest, Teen Spinning, ballet, Yoga for Tots, YogaBall for Adults, Health Risk Appraisals, and personalized exercise programs for members.
·       Another survey will go out to members this quarter.
·       Massage therapy plan is to have the service available any day of the week. Kathy is still finalizing this with the Tri-Health Scheduler.
·       Another community has tried a version of the Flex into Fitness program; but they used a punch card. David and Kathy will discuss trying something similar.
·       Commission agrees Kathy does a phenomenal job.

Old Business
·       December Tri-Health report
Comment by member requesting no children under sixteen be allowed into the fitness center. Kathy stated problems occur rarely; kids that use the fitness center on a regular basis behave.
·       Commission meeting time
morning, evenings, or alternate? Craig will check with his teachers at school. February meeting will be at 6:30pm.

Director’s Report
·       Center hours
On January 2nd we had 149 people use the fitness center, 97 of them were between 5:00am – 2:00pm. The Friday after Thanksgiving the center will stay open until 5:00pm; otherwise, review what day of the week the “holiday” falls on before deciding the hours.
·       2005 revenues were up 13% from 2004. New business memberships were added, programs added, a few fees went up.
·       Fitness Center numbers continue to increase.
Nov. 2002       631
Nov. 2003       1750    (new fitness center open)
Nov. 2004       1991
Nov. 2005       2180
·       Commission members should come to the February meeting with goals & objectives for 2006.
Trails project is already on that list.
·       At the March meeting the Fees sub-committee and Policy sub-committee will be formed.
·       Kristen Maiden is sending out the Adult Softball Applications. She would like to increase the league fees for business and non-resident teams. The new fees would still be under what other area leagues charge. Commission gives approval for the increase fees to business and non-resident teams.
·       Gayle Lucas requests use of the volleyball court, by Sacred Heart School, one hour per week, at no charge. Only four of the nine girls are from Evendale. Our policy requires 50% of the team be Evendale residents to waive the rental fee. Recreation Commission unanimously agrees to not waive the fee.
·       St. Michael’s Church requests use of a gym for a fundraiser for a New Orleans’ church. Commission is fine with the idea as long as the south gym is available on their requested date, and they pay a rental fee.
·       Jewish Community Center requests use of the pool this summer for a few of their campers. During the weeks of June 12 and July 17, the group would use the pool only on Tuesday and Thursday. During the weeks of July 24, July 31, and August 7, the group may use the pool Monday through Thursday. The group will use the pool from 1-3pm. This does not interfere with any of our programs. Commission approves the request. The JCC will submit a liability insurance form naming the village as additional insured.
·       Tennis program will probably be an independent provider program for 2006, as earlier discussed. We will allow non-residents to sign up on a later date, and at a higher fee. At least one court must be kept open for members to play on.

Phi Lambda Pi Report
·       December was the last month to sell Entertainment Books and Home Interior Candles.
·       The annual Holiday Party & Overnight also took place; forty-three members attended.

Open Discussion
·       Cary Belyea and SwimSafe Pool Management will manage our pool this year. He has closed the interviews for lifeguard and pool attendant positions at our pool.
Parents are hearing that Work Permits for minors will not be needed. This needs to be checked.
In addition, some past workers were going to make less than they would have working with Cincinnati Pool. Some of the workers have asked for and received a higher pay rate. Has SwimSafe classified some guards into the wrong pay-rate level? Or, is the company out of bid/contract pay range for each lifeguard level? David will investigate.

Motion to adjourn made by Doug Lohmeier at 8:15pm; seconded by Mary Lou Isaac. Motion passed.
